Buffon's Needle
Experiment
In 1777, Georges Leclerc Comte de Buffon, discover of the binomial
theorem, proposed dropping a needle on lined paper and asking for the
probability of the needle crossing one of the lines. The answer
surprisingly is related to pi.
The
Buffon's Needle site is found at --> http://www.ms.uky.edu/~mai/java/stat/buff.html
It also has a neat simulation and a graph of this experiment.
Plus, Google has a number of interesting Buffon's
