February is fabulous at Rolling Hills!
Our wonderful students are engaging in a variety of exceptional learning activities, preparing for upcoming programs, attending great field trips. We are really making the most of each and every day here at our school.
Our excellent teachers at Rolling Hills pride themselves on offering high quality classroom instruction and meeting the needs of all students. We are a collegial group and truly value the time we have to work together as a school team. Our Districtwide Staff Development Day on January 27th provided us with an opportunity for some great professional development as we focused on the implementation of our new PBIS Grant. We filmed a movie on positive school behaviors, which will be shown in classrooms next week. Our teachers had a great time with this project and we think our students will enjoy the finished product.
Students all over our campus are talking about the arrival of our new iPods! They can now be found in all classrooms on campus, and teachers are finding all sorts of great ways to utilize these devices in their classrooms. Our iPods have been loaded with all sorts of wonderful apps to reinforce essential academic skills and promote higher level thinking skills. And there is more good news… we just learned that the Phelps Foundation is funding another grant that will bring additional iPods to Rolling Hills within the next few weeks!
In other news, traffic and congestion in our neighborhood before and after school continues to be an area of great concern for our neighbors. You may have noticed an increased police presence near campus, especially after school, and the City of Fullerton will be installing a new flashing crosswalk sign on Rolling Hills Drive in the next week or so. The police will be in the area to enforce speed limits and will also be ticketing motorists who turn left out of our parking lot or park in the red zone in front of the school. It is important that we all obey traffic laws and set a good example for our kids, and of course, student safety is our top priority.
We have just passed the halfway point in our school year. They say that time flies when you're having fun, and that certainly has been true so far this year. I am proud of all of the great things that are happening at our school and invite you to be a part of it all. Happy February!
See you at school,
