When I walk out on campus and see all of the students looking professional, being positive and learning at high levels, I am truly happy. We have had a very smooth start to the school year because we have the best of students and the finest teachers at Nicolas Junior High School. Our teachers are helping the students to learn using our schoolwide strategies:
These are research based learning strategies with a proven record of helping students learn at high levels. Our schoolwide strategies ensure that all students are successful at school. Nicolas students themselves have positive attitudes that will help them be successful. First, the students look great and are following the new dress code impeccably. We have had an average of over 97% of students following the dress code since the beginning of the school year. Also, the students have responded well to our CHAMPs program for a positive proactive schoolwide climate. When I visit classrooms I see students that are attentive, engaged and are eager to learn. They are this way because they know the expectations and know how to be successful in their classrooms. As we go forward in the school year I want to encourage our parents to follow up with your student. Primarily, check your student’s planner each day for their classwork (CW) and homework (HW). See what your student is doing and ask to see their work. Additionally, check your student’s grade point average and current grades on the PowerSchool website. If you have a question about your student’s grades or the class, feel free to contact the teachers directly via email or call the main office at (714) 447-7775. I, again, thank all of our Nicolas parents and community members for their support of Nicolas Junior High School as we venture forth to be “Knights on the PATHWAY to success.”
