The Fullerton School District Educational Foundation is a non-profit organization, established by the Fullerton School District's Board of Trustees, dedicated to maintaining and improving the quality of education for all of the students of the Fullerton School District.

It is the mission of the Fullerton School District Educational Foundation to support and recognize innovative programs that offer hands-on experiences for students, and to provide opportunities for all segments of the community to actively contribute to public education.

The purpose of the Foundation is to:

• enhance the excellent educational programs that are synonymous with the Fullerton School District
• encourage the community to be active participants in student education

The goal of the Foundation is to:

• promote hands-on science instruction and support innovation in the classroom through Teacher grants.

The focus of the Foundation for the 2001-02 school year is to:

• award teacher grants for outstanding projects. The grant applications are open to all teachers in the district.
• develop a partnership with the District to support the new science curriculum. The Foundation will assist the District in obtaining additional resources for hands-on science instruction.

The Foundation actively solicits donations from institutions and private individuals, and sponsor fundraising events throughout the year.

For many years, educators in the state of California have had to make difficult school finance decisions. They have addressed the needs of an ever-growing, increasingly diverse population with constantly dwindling funds. Even now, although lower class sizes in the primary grades promise districts the ability to address the educational needs of students in an atmosphere more conducive to their success, monies for a variety of needs from classroom equipment to materials designed for older students are still in short supply. For this reason, public school districts are turning increasingly to foundations to support programs which are no longer possible due to decreasing expenditure on education by the state.

The Fullerton School District Educational Foundation is comprised of parents, community members and educators who are committed to a common goal - that of seeing to it that the children of our city receive the best possible education.
