Drama

Drama is utilized to enhance the curriculum across all grade levels. Students participate in Readers’ Theater, short skits and other drama activities as well as viewing and performing in school-wide performances.  For example, first graders perform in an adaptation of Seussical the Musical

Golden Hill also produces an annual fifth and sixth grade theatrical production in which students act, sing and dance, as well as serve as prop makers, stagehands and sound and lighting assistants.  Click http://www.ghplayphotos.com/ for pictures of this year’s production, Beauty and the Beast.

Sixth graders put on an annual Renaissance Faire each spring, which includes a Shakespearean mini-play, live chess game, maypole dance, and other interactive activities.  Click here to see pictures of previous Faires.

On the Arts LAB (Learning Activity Bus), students in all grade levels have the opportunity to learn the techniques of producing their own short movies based on grade level curriculum.  They learn about and experience the movie-making process including storyboarding, script writing, acting, filming, and editing aboard the mobile digital arts studio.
