As we prepare to begin the 2010-11 school year, I want to extend a warm welcome to all of the students, parents, and faculty of Fern Drive School!  I feel incredibly fortunate and blessed to have the opportunity to return as principal to the very school where I began my teaching career 15 years ago. 

As was the case back then, Fern Drive continues to thrive as a school that not only provides students with rigorous, standards-based academic instruction but that focuses on the development of students’ musical and artistic intelligences as well.  Through programs such as the UCI MIND Institute’s Music and Math and the All the Arts for All the Kids Foundation’s Creativity Center which is housed at Fern Drive School, students are provided with opportunities to grow and to learn via all learning modalities as we meet the needs of our diverse student population.  The school’s 891 API along with its recognition as a California Distinguished School serve as testaments to the powerful teaching and learning that occur on campus.

But, as is true of all successful organizations, it is people, not programs, that account for Fern Drive’s success.  The staff and parent community share a strong commitment to work in partnership with one another in order to hold students accountable to consistently high standards and to ensure that each student is provided with every opportunity to develop the skills necessary to succeed in both school and in life.  If you are a visitor to our website, welcome.  We invite you to get to know our school and to partner with us as we prepare our students to meet tomorrow’s challenges.
