Dear Parents:
We are off and running! We had a very smooth opening,
with 554 students currently enrolled. This is up 30 students
over last year. Our Back to School Night was well attended. We
had 77% of our students represented by at least one parent. This
is up slightly from last year, too.
Our biggest news is that our API score (Academic
Performance Index) went up 17 points to 901! We are very proud
of our accomplishment! I truly believe that our growth is due to
good teaching practices, as well as the fact that we are
implementing RTI. (Response to Interventions). We began
Achievement Groups last year during the first half hour of
school. During this time, our English Learners are also
receiving their specialized instruction at their proficiency
level. This approach, coupled with extra support in the
classroom, has made the difference! I applaud our entire staff
for their efforts to meet the needs of all students. And
congratulations to our students for their hard work and
determination to succeed! We are planning a special activity for
our 3rd through 6th graders so that they can be recognized for
their achievement.
This Friday, September 25th, is a Staff Development
Day. Teachers will be hard at work analyzing their students’
test scores from last year, as well as scores of their current
students. Teachers will be able to identify areas of strengths
in their program, as well as areas where students may need more
support. In addition, we will be grouping the students according
to need for our Achievement Groups. If time allows, teachers
will be able to write their goals for the year. This day will no
doubt prove to be a very productive one. We thank you for your
support as we continue our quest to provide a strong academic
program for ALL students.
I look forward to the new year, working with you and
your precious children.
Our parent involvement continues to be one of the many strengths
of our school.
Thank you for taking such an active role in your child’s
education. It does make a
difference!
Very truly yours,
Sue Faassen
Principal

KIDS ARE FIRST!!!!!! And that is what our Fall Fundraiser is all
about. Donna Voss and Lynda Druan are here once again to make a
difference in our school. We are pumping up our kids to sell,
sell, sell ...... And all the proceeds will be going to field
trips, busses, 6th grade camp and much more. We would like to
take the time to thank the families for participating once
again. If it was not for all of you we would not be the ALL
STARS that we are. |
